Family heirlooms and collections come in many shapes and sizes. A customer recently came to us with 120 small cigarette cards that had been collected by her father-in-law. Her husband is from England and the cards are a great example of mid 20th century advertising. The cards were originally used as a “stiffener” for flimsy cigarette packs, but their humor and unique illustrations make them highly collectible today.
A customer brought in these vintage postcards she’d been collecting for years. A native of Chicago, the images of it’s most famous icons will keep her home town close. They were framed using an espresso Framerica profile. We love Framerica, a company based in the USA that does it’s manufacturing here and is environmentally friendly. We carry more than 50 of their very economical profiles. The postcards are floating on a Crescent Select acid free mat and each one is raised with a piece of acid free foam behind it. The result is a nice drop shadow making the look very three dimensional. Spacers are added to the sides between the TruVue Conservation Clear glass and the mat. It’s so important in Colorado to keep your art from touching the glass, preventing it from adhering.
