The Greenbacks of Trout Unlimited are excited to announce the 3rd annual Surface Film event showcasing top professional fly-fishing photography from across the country at the Anthology Fine Art gallery on Thursday February 7th, 2013 at 7pm. Framed prints will be available through a silent auction to benefit the Greenback’s work to conserve Colorado’s cold water fisheries and recruit the next generation of Trout Unlimited Members. The show can be viewed February 1st-23rd.
Angela Eastman cuts, folds, and manipulates paper to create works that blur the line between sculpture and drawing. These pieces, often coupled with works in steel, re-interpret natural patterns as abstracted forms that invoke contemplation on beauty, accretion, and our relationship with the natural world. Angela received her BA from Colorado College in 2009 and currently resides in Colorado Springs.
We will be hosting two artists for the the month of September. The Beginning of Wisdom- Printmaker Barbara Hale exhibits a selection of prints and found object sculptures that combine vintage pseudo scientific references with natural elements. Triple Gemini- Artist Colby Brumit exhibits mixed media work which explores personal iconography and geographic space. Layers of imagery merge into distinct snapshots of place, intuition and emotion. Join us for their opening on Thursday, September 6th from 6-9 or First Friday, September 7th from 6-10pm.
We will be hosting the first solo show for William Lee-Ashley through the month of August.
We first showed the work of Jacob Custer in the fall of 2010. His installation piece received a lot of attention and we're thrilled to be displaying his new body of work. The show opens June 15 and will hang until July 28. Stop by for First or Third Friday for artist receptions.
In addition to Cheryl’s amazing nature photography this exhibit will feature her award winning photo “Alaskan Brown Bear” that is currently being shown in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History as part of their exhibit “Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards Exhibition”.
Cheryl Opperman is a nationally acclaimed nature photographer who has traveled to every continent in the world capturing spectacular images of nature, wildlife, and indigenous cultures. Widely published, her photographs have appeared in print, on the web, on television, and in solo and group exhibits, resulting in a list of clients or credits which include The American Humane Association, Overseas Adventure Travel, The Denver Post, the National Geographic Society, and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Cheryl’s esthetic compositions, artistic use of light, and exquisite detail have been honored with several prestigious awards from organizations including The Earth Day Network, Nature’s Best Photography, the International Photography Awards, and the National Wildlife Federation. She was also featured as a leading female nature photographer by Outdoor Photographer Magazine in 2010. Using the power of photography to inspire interest in the environment and other cultures, she has presented slide shows or classes on various topics to schools, camera clubs, the Intermountain Regional Headquarters of the National Park Service, and the North American Nature Photography Association. Cheryl is a 1992 honors graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial/Scientific photography.
